सम्मान्ये निवेदितः प्रतिष्ठायाः प्रशास्त्रे सर्वे।
आदरणीया आचार्या, सदस्याः एवं सभाग्राणि।
आज अहम् धन्यवादानि स्वीकरोमि यदि सत्यम् कथयामि। धन्यवादानि स्वीकरोमि यदि सत्यम् कथयामि।

आजः अहम् आपके समक्ष एक अत्यन्त महत्त्वपूर्ण विषयं संस्कृतेन प्रस्तुत करिष्यामि – दहेजः।

दहेजः, यह एक समाजशास्त्रीय समस्या है जिससे आजकल कई परिवार प्रभावित हो रहे हैं। इसका सीधा संबंध विवाह से है, जहां बाला दहेज के रूप में दी जाती है, जिसमें धन एवं सामग्री शामिल होती है।
(Translation: Dowry is a sociological issue affecting many families today. Its direct connection is with marriage, where the bride is given dowry, including wealth and materials.)
दहेज व्यापक रूप से समाज में फैला हुआ है और यह एक समस्या है जिसे समाज को समाप्त करना चाहिए। इसका सीधा प्रभाव न केवल परिवारों पर होता है, बल्कि समाज के सभी परिसरों पर होता है।
(Translation: Dowry is widespread in society and is a problem that needs to be eradicated. Its direct impact is not only on families but also on all sectors of society.)
दहेज एक पुराना प्रथा है, लेकिन यह आजकल भी अपनी जड़ें बांए हुए हैं। यह एक स्त्री के सम्मान और आत्मविश्वास को कमजोर करता है और समाज में असमानता को बढ़ावा देता है।
(Translation: Dowry is an ancient tradition, but its roots are still deep today. It weakens a woman’s dignity and self-confidence and promotes inequality in society.)
धन की मांग का कारण बहुतेतर स्त्रियाँ परिवारों में बोझ बन जाती हैं और उन्हें अपने हक की उपेक्षा करनी पड़ती है। इसका सीधा प्रभाव है कि स्त्रियाँ अपने आत्मनिर्भरता के लक्ष्यों को प्राप्त करने में सक्षम नहीं होतीं।
(Translation: The demand for wealth often makes women a burden on their families, and they are forced to overlook their rights. The direct consequence is that women are not able to achieve their goals of self-reliance.)
दहेज के प्रति यह विचारना चाहिए कि यह एक स्थायी समाधान नहीं है, बल्कि समाज में स्त्री सम्मान और समानता की दिशा में परिवर्तन की आवश्यकता है। इसे समाज की दृष्टिकोण से हटाने के लिए हमें सामूहिकता और शिक्षा के माध्यम से लोगों को जागरूक करना चाहिए।
(Translation: Regarding dowry, it should be considered that it is not a permanent solution, but a change in the direction of respect and equality for women in society is needed. To eliminate it from society, awareness needs to be raised among people through community and education.)
