वन्यमृगाः देवदत्तनगरे वसन्ति। अत्र अजन्मनः हरिणः सुन्दरतमाः वर्तन्ते। हरिणः चतुष्पादाः अस्मिन् जनपदे प्राणिनः अद्भुतं सौन्दर्यम् अवभासयन्ति। तेषां विविधाः प्रजाः दृश्यन्ते।

हरिणः निर्भयाः सन्ति। अपर्णिः, पर्णिः, सिखण्डिनः इत्यादयः विविधाः जातयः अस्मिन् अन्यतमे प्रदेशे निवसन्ति।

हरिणः जलचराणि, ग्राम्यपशवः, फलानि, फूलानि इत्यादि भक्षयन्ति। ते अपराधं न कुर्वन्ति। एतद्रूपम् अद्भुतं अस्मिन् जनपदे न प्राणिनाम् अदृश्यं भवति।

हरिणः लोकस्य सौन्दर्यम् विविधैः कलाप्रतिभाभिः समर्थयन्ति। चित्रकलाः, चित्रग्राहकाः, चित्रकाराः इत्यादयः विविधाः चित्रकलास्थानानि निर्माणं कुर्वन्ति।

वन्यहरिणः न बालकान्, नार्यः, न वृद्धान् अपहरन्ति। व्याघ्राः, चीराः, बाणयुधाः, पशुपालाः, नष्टग्राम्याः इत्यादयः जनान् विनष्टजनान् निःसृतान् हन्तुं न प्राणिनाम् इच्छन्ति।

सम्प्रति वन्यहरिणां संरक्षणं महत्वपूर्णं वर्तते। वन्यहरिणां संरक्षणाय अधिकारिणां श्रमः आवश्यकः अस्ति।

एतादृशस्य वन्यमृगस्य संरक्षणे समयः विपश्चिताम् आगच्छति। अत्र वन्यहरिणः प्राचीनकालस्य भारतीयानां जीवनस्य अत्यन्तमहत्त्वपूर्णः भागः आसीत्।
